Indiana Tech men fall short at Madonna | Local colleges | Journal Gazette - Fort Wayne Journal Gazette

Indiana Tech fell behind by 14 points at halftime en route to an 89-73 defeat to WHAC foe Madonna on Wednesday in Livonia, Michigan.

The Warriors (15-10, 11-4) placed four in double figures, led by Lucas Lehrman's 18 points, but the Crusaders (19-7, 11-5) matched the feat, including a pair of shooters scoring 25 and 24, to tie Tech with 11 conference victories.

GRACE 72, TAYLOR 68: In Winona Lake, the Lancers never trailed in claiming the home win in Crossroads League play. Myles Johnson's 17 points led five in double digits for Grace (16-9, 8-5), which led 45-32 at the half. C.J. Penha had a game-high 23 to pace Taylor (13-12, 5-8).

TRINE 91, ALMA 78: In Alma, Michigan, the Thunder used a 50-point second-half outburst to notch its second straight MIAA victory. Maurice Hunter finished 11 of 20 from the floor en route to a team-high 26 for Trine (13-7, 7-2), while Alma's Cole Kleiver drained seven three-pointers to lead all scorers with 36.

MANCHESTER 84, DEFIANCE 77: In North Manchester, the Spartans trailed 66-61 with 6:31 remaining before rallying for the win in HCAC play. C.J. Hampton scored 24 to lead Manchester (8-12, 6-7).

Women

INDIANA TECH 84, MADONNA 39: In Livonia, Michigan, the Warriors won their 10th straight WHAC contest in decisive fashion, using an 18-0 run to seize a 26-point halftime lead. Emma Tuominen's career-high 18-point night off the bench led all scorers to pace five in double figures for Tech (21-4, 14-1).

INDIANA WESLEYAN 57, SAINT FRANCIS 33: In Marion, the Wildcats held the visitors to an 8-of-48 shooting performance to pull within a game of the Cougars for third place in the Crossroads League. Carly Lange scored 13 for IWU (18-7, 9-4) to finish as the game's only double-digit scorer. USF (19-5, 10-3) saw its win streak end at seven games.

HUNTINGTON 70, GOSHEN 57: In Goshen, the Foresters led by just six points through three quarters, then pulled away to move over .500 in the Crossroads League. Sarah Fryman went 16 of 24 from the floor for a game-high 36 points while also grabbing 11 rebounds for Huntington (18-7, 7-6), while South Side product TaNiece Chapman led three in double figures for the Maple Leafs (8-17, 1-12) with 15.

GRACE 69, TAYLOR 63, OT: In Winona Lake, the Lancers rallied from a 15-point halftime deficit, holding the Trojans to just 19 second-half points. Kyannah Stull scored 21 points for Grace (16-9, 7-6 CL), while Angola graduate Becca Buchs netted 15 for Taylor (23-2, 11-2), making three three-pointers to extend her streak of games with at least one made three to 52.

TRINE 71, ALMA 33: In Angola, the Thunder scored the game's first 15 points to take control. Tara Bieniewicz scored 17 to power Trine (17-4, 11-1 MIAA).

DEFIANCE 64, MANCHESTER 51: In Defiance, Ohio, the Yellow Jackets held the visitors to four second-quarter points. Miranda Bieghler paced the Spartans (8-12, 5-8 HCAC) with 11 points.
